Lesson 5: Interview on Camera (Optional) — Simple Setup + Clear Audio
Optional but powerful
Interviews can bring real voices into your story — but only if they’re safe, respectful, and clear.
Learning goals
By the end of this lesson, you can:
- Record a short interview clip safely
- Ask simple questions that bring meaning
- Set up your phone for better interview video + audio
Consent first (always)
Before recording, say clearly:
“Hi, I’m creating a student story video for learning. Is it okay if I record your video/voice and include it in my assignment?”
If they say yes:
- record them saying: “Yes, I agree.” (best)
If they say no: - respect it and don’t record
✅ Never record secretly.
Simple interview setup (no equipment)
Framing
- Medium shot (chest up)
- Subject slightly off-center
- Background simple
Light
- Face should face the light
- Avoid bright windows behind them
Audio
- Move closer (1–1.5 meters)
- Reduce background noise
- Ask them to speak clearly
Keep it short: 1–2 questions only
Use any of these:
- “What happened, in your words?”
- “Why is this important to you?”
- “What do you want people to understand?”
- “What gives you hope?”
✅ The best interview clips are 8–15 seconds.
Activity
Record one short interview clip (or skip if not possible).
If you record it, you’ll use it in your final sequence video.
